2013 saw Iron Maiden and Slipknot return to Donnington for their first show there since the passing of bassist Paul Gray. The long awaited for Rammstein graced the headline slot on the sunday, bringing their monstrous pyrotechnics set, leaving the weekend, literally, with a Bang. So who has been added to the bill this year to keep the wheel rolling ?
Download Festival has always been a prolific event with its background of Monsters Of Rock, Donnington castle has always sported the biggest names in rock and after changing its name to Download Festival in 2005, The festival began to reach out to the younger generation putting newer acts on the bill and progressing with diversity in Genre’s. Extending its capacity and now with a total of 6 stages, The festival attracts over 120,000 punters and is one of the biggest music festivals in Europe.
HEADLINING 2014 will be the much disputed Avenged Sevenfold, headlining the festival for the first time after their new album ” Hail to the King ” aswell as repeat headliners Aerosmith and Linkin Park who will be playing there award winning album Hybrid Theory, cover to cover !
Also announced areRob Zombie, Fall Out Boy The Dillinger Escape Plan and the shock announcement of Suicide Silence whos singer Mitch Lucker , passed away earlier this year. Other Acts announced include Buckcherry, Memphis May Fire, Battlecross, Jake E Lee’s Red Dragon Cartel, Arcane Roots, Thy Art Is Murder, the Amity Affliction, Avatar, Lonely the Brave and Feed the Rhino.
